Snoopy Island is a pocket-sized marine playground off the coast of Fujairah that punches well above its weight. The island’s nickname comes from a playful aerial resemblance to the cartoon beagle; on the water it reads simply as a dramatic slab of volcanic rock rising from turquoise shallows. A small rocky island famous for resembling the cartoon dog, offering some of the UAE's best snorkeling.
Why go
Snoopy Island is prized for clarity of water, abundant reef life close to shore and easy access for day-trippers. Snorkelers and beginner divers will find reef gardens and rocky ledges teeming with colorful reef fish and hard and soft corals — all within a short swim of the landing points. On calm mornings the sea surface becomes a crystalline window into the underwater world, making it an ideal destination for photographers and anyone who loves immersive, low-key marine encounters.
What to expect
The island itself is rugged and rocky rather than sandy; there are no facilities, shade structures or lifeguards, so visits are inherently self-reliant. Expect dramatic rock formations, sun-warmed stones for lounging and compact coves that shelter the reefs. The marine environment is the main attraction: snorkeling routes typically follow the outer ledges and channels where fish congregate and corals flourish.
Getting there
Snoopy Island is accessed by a short boat or kayak ride from the Fujairah coastline. Many hotels and dive shops in the emirate offer transfers or guided trips that include safety briefings, snorkel gear and local knowledge about the best spots and currents. If you go independently, choose an early-morning departure when winds and swell are usually at their mildest and visibility is at its best.
Practical tips
- Pack light but prepare: bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, plenty of water, snorkel gear if you prefer your own, a dry bag and a basic first-aid kit. There are no services on the island.
- Respect the reef: avoid touching coral, anchoring on reefs or feeding fish. Use a reef hook or mooring provided by your operator rather than dropping anchor over fragile habitat.
